Prayer to Escape Temptation and Trouble

Scripture Prayer for Temptation and Trouble
Scripture Prayer

Thank you for visiting Scripture Prayer to Escape Temptation and trouble.  To fully understand the principles of praying scripturally, please read the teaching “Why Pray Scripture?” .

Hearing God: As it is rare to hear an audible voice from God, one of the ways God will speak to us is through His written Word and a small still voice inside us. Before reviewing the scripture references below that address what the Bible says about temptation and trouble ask the Holy Spirit of revelation to join you. When certain verses capture your attention more than others, meditate and incorporate those into your personal daily prayer life.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to give complete knowledge of Your Will to this reader, and to give him/her Your spiritual wisdom and understanding as they seek You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Matthew 6:13 (AMP)

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.  1 Corinthians 10:13

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.  Psalm 27:14

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. Do not err, my beloved brethren.  James 1:12-16

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.  James 4:7

For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.  Hebrews 2:18

Then was Jesus led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple, And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them; And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.  Matthew 4:1-11

Neither give place to the devil.  Ephesians 4:27

Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.  1 Corinthians 6:18-20

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.  Revelation 12:11

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.  James 1:2-4

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you.  1 Peter 4:12

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.  Hebrews 4:15

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.  1 John 4:4

And whosoever shall offend one of these little ones that believe in me, it is better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and he were cast into the sea. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched: Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire.  Mark 9:42-47

And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.  Luke 8:14

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  Philippians 4:6

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.  Romans 6:12-14

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  Ephesians 6:11-17

And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.  Mark 4:36-39

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments: And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.  Luke 24:4-9

Scripture Prayer for Temptation and Trouble

Dear Father God,

I come before You in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ, and I praise you and thank you that You Lord Jesus have risen and You are among the living, not the dead, and You are now my High Priest who in all points was tempted as I am, and yet was without sin.  I thank you that even in the midst of the storm You are the Mighty One who gives me peace.  I thank you for all the examples in Your Word that shows me that You are faithful to deliver me out of all my troubles.  I thank you that You care for me and that I can cast all my cares upon You.  So today, Lord Jesus, I lay all my cares, all my worries, all things I cannot change on Your altar.  I lay my spouse on Your altar.  I lay my children on Your altar.  I lay my job and finances on Your altar.  I lay my parents and siblings on Your altar.  I lay my health and the health of my loved ones on Your altar.  I give it all into Your capable hands, Lord.

Father God, I do not want to be part of the seed that fell among the thorns being choked by the cares, riches, and pleasures of this life, bringing forth no fruit to perfection.  I thank you that I can overcome by the Blood of the Lamb, and the word of my testimony.  For there is no testimony without a test, and I choose to rejoice in all the trials that come my way, knowing that through them I produce the patience that in the end increases my faith and moves me one more step closer to the perfection You are transforming me into.  I choose today to submit to You, Lord, and resist the devil, and watch Him flee.  In submitting to You, I also choose to be strong in the Lord Jesus Christ and I put on Your full armor, that I may be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.  For my fight is not against people, Lord, but against the rulers, against the powers, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

So, I stand firm, therefore, and gird my loins with truth.  I gird my loins with the truth, Lord, that I am your child; that I am a woman (man) of God, an ambassador for my Lord Jesus Christ, and a minister of reconciliation.  I thank you for the truth that You love me, that Your hand is upon me, and that You never leave me of forsake me.  I gird my loins with the truth that I’ve been crucified with Christ; nevertheless I live, yet not I but Christ who lives within me.  And the life that I now live, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me.  Lord Jesus Christ, I was buried with You in baptism and raised to walk in newness of life.  Thank You for all this truth that I may use to come against the wiles of the devil.

And because the battle is also for my emotions, I put on the breastplate of righteousness and I thank you Lord Jesus Christ that You are my breastplate and You are my Righteousness.  You have declared me to be righteous in Your sight and worthy before You.  Help me to walk now in Your truth and righteousness at all times.  Protect my emotions today, Lord.  I take authority now over every spirit of strife that would come against me; I bind moodiness and irritability; I bind accusation and every lying spirit.  I take authority over discontentment and choose to walk in Your contentment.  I bind heaviness, oppression, depression, pride, and the critical spirit.  I bind the spirit of discouragement and choose to wait on You, Lord, to be of good courage, and trust You to strengthen my heart.  I bind the spirit of lust, fantasy, and fornication of any kind, and choose not to yield any of my members to unrighteousness.  I declare that sin will have no dominion over me, and that I am no longer under the law, but under grace; and there is therefore no condemnation for me who lives in Christ Jesus.

And because the devil tries to steal my peace and joy, I shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace.  Thank you, Lord, that You are my peace and my joy; fill me now with Your Spirit and help me to abide in Your peace, in Your joy, in Your love and in the power of the Holy Spirit, at all times, no matter what the difficulties or circumstances.  Because the devil tries to bring doubt, I take up the shield of faith, with which I can extinguish all the fiery-tipped darts of the evil one, for You are my shield and You are my faith, Lord Jesus.  Thou, O Lord, art a shield about me; You’re my glory and the lifter of my head.  Help me today to be full of faith and full of the Holy Spirit; help me to walk by faith and not by sight or emotions, in the Spirit and not in the flesh.  Help me to trust You, to rest joyfully in You; to be settled, surrendered and submitted to You; to be persevering and confident in You and discerning at all time.

Because the battle is also for my mind, Father, I put on the helmet of salvation and I submit my mind and thoughts to You, Lord.  Give me the mind of Christ, not a carnal mind.  Let my thoughts be Your thoughts.  Help me to think like You, act like You, and to respond like You at all times and in all circumstances.  I declare today that my mind is off limits and impenetrable by the devil.  And now I take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and I ask You to help me to speak Your Word with all boldness, authority and power, quickly against the devil, in the Name of my Lord Jesus Christ.  I clothe myself with humility, with love and compassion, with kindness and gentleness, with patience and self-control, with holiness and purity and with forgiveness.  Help me to walk this way before You and man at all times today, in the name of my Lord Jesus Christ.  Amen!
